We gave ourselves the name "Potter's Clay" because of the analogies in the Bible referring to Christians as "clay" and God as our "Potter." We recognize the fact that we really aren't that special. We're kinda bland, like clay, but if we submit ourselves to God and allow Him to work in our lives, He can turn us into something beautiful. A clay pot is not great because of the clay, it's great because of what the Potter has done with the clay. We want people to see Jesus when they see us.
The team started out with just two dramas and over the past few years have acquired a repertoire of about eleven dramas. All but two of these dramas were choreographed by the kids themselves. Potter's Clay is run almost 100% by teenagers. We have certain mentors who oversee and guide our efforts, but most of what people see is the result of personal conviction in our own lives.
Potter's Clay is very versatile and has done all sorts of things including simple puppets for outreaches, skits for churches, Christmas caroling and playing bingo for retirement homes, dramas for churches and youth groups, or scooping ice cream for community days. We want to encourage each other, and those outside our team to live with one goal in mind - pleasing Jesus.
"O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD. "Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel." - Jeremiah 18:6
